to slime away

‘You and a super intelligent snail both get 1 million dollars, and you both become immortal, however you die if the snail touches you. It always knows where you are and slowly crawls toward you. What’s your plan?’

Inspired by this question circulating online, To Slime Away unfolds as a record of one particular snail’s journey, a being forever chasing a human. By immersing ourselves in the snail’s imagined universe, we begin to sense its perspective, the one it cannot share itself. Its story is inseparable from the experiences of a human being, bound together in a loop of pursuit, dependence, and inevitability.

The exhibition becomes a speculative archive: built from fragments of everyday life, images, and memories shared through an open call. This archive does not belong to any single individual; it seeps across perspectives, connects personal visions, and mutates through what others choose to reveal. Each contribution, while deeply personal, dissolves into a collective constellation, forming the trail of the snail. The singular and the shared intertwine: the snail’s path is made of what humans have seen.

Do our personal stories matter in isolation from other beings?
Can we ever tell a story that belongs only to ourselves? Or do we inevitably speak through and about others?

Whose stories do the pictures tell? What would a snail see, chasing after you?

Sound seeps through the space: a slow soundscape inspired by the imagined noises of a mollusk, created by S3RPIEN. It stretches time, allowing us to linger in the slime, in the rhythm of the snail’s motion.
