outhouse magazine

outhouse magazine is an independent publication produced by outhouse gallery. it is a platform dedicated to showcasing new, diverse voices, a creative space for lovers of art and the written word. we want to focus on fostering the community of readers and writers, since we believe that words have the power to heal, transform, and bring people together.

outhouse magazine publishes essays and think pieces related to politics, art, culture, and society, as well as a variety of creative writings. the first issue which explored the theme of ‘home’ has been launched on the 21st of March, 2025.

ISSUE 2: OPEN CALL

We are delighted to announce an OPEN CALL for submissions for the second issue of Outhouse Magazine.
What we are looking for:

- Essays and think pieces related to politics, art, culture, and society.
-Creative writings (all genres) that engage with the theme of REBIRTH / AWAKENING

About the theme:
Rebirth - being born again, spiritual regeneration, a period of new life, revival.
Awakening - rousing from slumber, gaining consciousness, the beginning of a new feeling or understanding, the process of unfolding and growth.
In the second issue of the magazine we would like to explore the ideas of self-discovery, new beginnings, and reinvention. As we grow, we change and discover new things about ourselves that shape our relationship with the world. We become wondering who we are, how other people see us, and how we want to be seen; what we are supposed to keep holding on to, and what to let go. Sometimes, we struggle to find our space in unwelcoming reality, and we are drawn to the idea of starting over - free from any expectations set in the past.

Additional guidelines:
* Format: google document
* Limits: essays and fiction - max 2000 words, poetry - up to 3 poems per submission.
* Only finalised works (no pitches)
